Open Sessions for Project 2018

From June National Training we will be starting “OPEN SESSIONS” for Project 2018 on Sunday morning 08:45 – 11:45 hours.

Players born in 2002 and 2003 must attend their sessions on Saturday and then the Sunday session if want to be considered for Under 17 European Championships 2018.

The preparation for next year’s Europeans will be very similar to the last five years, with the “Reduced Squad” being announced in January 2018.

Preparation Plan Dates will be issued soon.

This year the Camp 1 will be held after Camp 2 and it they will be run as a Day Camps at the Ross Peers Sports Centre in Soham.

Camp 1: Tuesday 15th to Friday 18th August 2017

  • Level 1 to 4
  • Ladies Development

Camp 2 – Friday 11th to Monday 14th August 2017

  • Level 4 players by invitation
  • Level 5
  • Project 2018 (players born in 2002 & 2003 attending Level 4 & 5)
  • Under 20’s
  • Ladies U17 & Seniors

Due to the popularity of the Camp, allocation of places will be on a first come first served basis, and places will only be guaranteed on receipt of the registration form and deposit.

The rule is that the players must pay before entering the rink, this way they will be registered as attended. This ensures that we also have a list of all players who are on the rink for health & safety reasons.

However, we have some players who arrive with other parents who enter the rink without registering at the desk because their parents are paying later, please make sure that the player still registers at the desk and explains this.

For some time I have been looking for a supplier who can provide good quality navy shorts for National Training at a reasonable cost, so that the training wear is consistent. I am pleased to say that I have been selling a sample of shorts for which the feedback has been positive. I will therefore be introducing these as part of the uniform for National Training from September 2014.

All can be purchased at National Training

  • White National Training T-Shirt – with England on the back and NRHA logo on the front £7
  • White socks (no club logo socks) – Senior £7 and Infantile £6.50
  • Navy Shorts – with NRHA logo £10

A separate email will be sent to players to invite them for a trial on the next Level up.
When I invite players to the next session they will still remain in the level they are listed in, but for that particular month they will attend the session they are invited to instead of the level they are listed in. The reason for this is so that I can assess the player in that level. The player will not move up until I list them in the next level.
There will always be several players that I need to test at the next level, so I will not always invite the same players each month, I will use a rotation system.

After the assessment, which may be over a few months, I will make a decision based on my principles of the game and player development.
It is not always beneficial to a player to move to a level that is not the right level for him/her at that time. The parents/players tend to feel that it is better for the player to always play in a higher level, this is not correct and by playing in a level that may be too advanced for them, may mean that that player will not develop in the right way or could regress the player.

Finally I would like to say that although I always have the final decision, I always take on board the comments and advice from the Assistant National Coaches.

We set up the seating so that benches are available for players and parents/adults to sit down and also create an area between the benches for the players bags, therefore please can you ensure that bags are always kept in this area at all times and not placed outside on the walkway. Also, when parents/adults are helping the kids to get ready, please ensure that you are always inside the benches. Players, can you also help to keep this area tidy by keeping your equipment/clothes inside your bags.

Coaches will be responsible for the players during their session, however parents/adults are responsible for their kids whilst they are waiting for their own session or their siblings.

We will ensure that the bins are always available, so please ensure that rubbish is always placed in the bin and not left for others to pick up. If the bins are full, please let Marisa know.

Also I have now booked the classroom on Saturdays to give an opportunity for parents and other adults to work/read in a quiet area, so if you wish to use this facility, please log in and out with Marisa. Please be aware that the classroom is not accessible to kids.

Can I also remind players and their respective parents/adults of the following:

  1. No skates to be worn off rink, unless it is your session
  2. No balls are allowed off rink (this includes footballs/tennis balls)
  3. The second rink is off limits to everyone, unless it is for a training session supervised by one of the NTW Coaches

Please Contact Me to let me know if you are NOT attending NTW in May as soon as possible.
